⚡The people building the future of electric boating are coming together in Maine!
The Electric Watercraft Forum, taking place October 22–23, 2026, at Lyman-Morse in Camden, Maine, will bring industry professionals together to discuss real projects, share technical knowledge, and build community within marine electrification.
🎤 KEYNOTE ADDRESS — Electric Watercraft Are Accelerating the Electrotech Revolution
Thursday, October 22, at 4:30 PM | Phil Coupe
Drawing on 20 years in renewable energy and electrotech, Phil Coupe will explore how efficient electric technologies and renewable power are opening opportunities across ferries, tugboats, yachts, aquaculture vessels, recreational boats, and personal watercraft. His keynote will examine the forces driving this transition and the economic and environmental opportunities ahead for Maine.
This B2B event is designed for boatbuilders, boatyard crews, designers, marine technology providers, aquaculture farmers, policymakers, environmental organizations, and buyers interested in the technical side of electric boating.
Five in-depth case studies will explore projects, technology, and the infrastructure needed to support adoption:
⚓ WATTSON — Electrifying the Working Waterfront
Explore the Spruce Head Fisherman’s Co-op’s 16-foot electric skiff, powered by an ePropulsion X20. Hear how the project supports lobster-crate towing and other waterfront tasks, with lessons from the operators, builders, and technology partners.
⚓ ISOBEL — Designing Around the Owner’s Needs
Discover how Stephens Waring Design, Belmont Boatworks, and RAD Propulsion developed an electric boat for lake transportation and recreation. The discussion will explore operating needs, lightweight construction, and propulsion selection.
⚓ Electric Conversions — VEGA, FREYA & WOMBAT
Hylan & Brown Boatbuilders and project partners will examine the challenges of converting classic boats to electric propulsion, including hull suitability, performance expectations, equipment selection, charging, weight distribution, and sea trials.
⚓ Firefly & MeVa Transit Ferries — Subchapter T Lessons Learned
Hear perspectives from Lyman-Morse, the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Center, VITA Power, and Aqua superPower on electric passenger-vessel projects and the technical and regulatory considerations involved.
⚓ Charging Infrastructure — Thursday, October 22, at 3 PM
You’ll have to charge that boat one way or another! Experts will explore marine Level 2 and DC fast charging, infrastructure that scales with demand, bundling charging with vessel sales, policy engagement in Maine, and lessons from projects worldwide.
Exhibits, sea trials, and networking will provide additional opportunities to connect with the people developing and deploying electric marine technology.
As we expand electric boat service capabilities and technician training, these practical conversations are essential. They connect the people who design, build, install, operate, and maintain these systems—and help turn experience into progress.
